Developer
A developer is a person who is creating a software product, or it's part of a developer team which is in charge of a software product. Usually, developers have important skills like programming abilities, software debugging and operating systems knowledge, computer science or engineering studies.
In the open source terms, developers are not payed for their work and they do the work for free for various reasons: glory, self learning, their own kindness, possibility to get a better job if their project is well received by the general public.
As a consequence, the time for working on an open source project is limited, most of the developers do it in their own free time, and most of the times their software milestones don't actually occur like on a commercial product.
So please don't forget that open source developers are just people and they do this without any real benefit. You can help them by donating ( contact each developer in particular for that ), or you can help by submitting patches and enhancements for the software they are working at. Also hosting or beta testing is highly appreciated.
